Willam Schnnars
Quartermasters - Marines

The lure of aviation proved too hard for William Schnars to resist so in early 1970 he enlisted in the United States Marin Corps. For the next 21 years he served in both the Marin Corps and the Marine Corps Reserves, retiring in 1991 as an E-8 First Sergeant.

The corps fulfilled its promise to get Bill in the air and as a crew chief, he was in his glory.  Deployed to Iraq, Bill’s greatest satisfaction came from being able to obtain materials and items to assist his comrades.

Just two years prior to retirement form the military a friend suggested he join a veterans’ organization.

Now a member of the Lynbrook Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Post 2307 for more than 20 years, bill has served as the house Chairman, Quartermaster, Junior Vice Commander and Commander.  It has always been his priority to help older members recognize and embrace their potential, which has translated into their helping their community and veterans in need

Married to Elizabeth for 39 Years, today they spend much of their free time enjoying their four children and three grandchildren.
